Discharge Consent Support – EA, LLFA, and Internal Drainage Board liaison
EA, LLFA, IDB
If your project needs to discharge water into a watercourse, sewer, or drainage ditch, we handle the technical submissions needed to secure consent. Whether it’s an Environment Agency permit, Ordinary Watercourse Consent from the LLFA, or Internal Drainage Board (IDB) approval, we produce the drawings, calculations, and supporting information needed for a successful application. We also advise on conditions, flow limits, and treatment measures to satisfy regulator requirements.
The Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) is the organisation responsible for managing local flood risk—usually your county council or unitary authority. For most planning applications, they review surface water drainage strategies, SuDS design, and approve discharge to ordinary watercourses.
What is the IDB?
What is the LLFA?
Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs) are public bodies that manage water levels in low-lying areas. If your development is within an IDB district and you’re proposing to discharge into one of their drains or watercourses, you’ll need their formal consent. We liaise directly with IDBs to ensure your scheme is acceptable and technically sound.
